This is a very good alternative to 12-step programs. The personal independence that RR espouses is incredibly empowering. Self Management And Recovery Training is an alternative to 12-step programs which is not related to Alcoholics Anonymous in any way. They do not believe in the disease of addiction and do not label people as "alcoholics" or "addicts." This is a common sense self-help approach to addiction.
